The material’s hardness of power spring play a decisive factor to every aspect of a power spring. With the improvement of the hardness, the strength and the limit elasticity of material enhance at the same time.While when the hardness is more high, the limit of elasticity reduces for the reason that the material become brittle and the intensity reduce.So when to choose the material of the spring, should choose suitable hardness material.
Stainless steel 301 as one of important material, often meet problem of this kind or that kind in the process of production. For example: insufficient or excessive hardness, sometimes produce the same product,but the product quality is uneven, the hardness of spring is different, some too high and some too low. Through practice and combining with analysis, the main causes of these problems have the following several aspects.
1, The heating temperature of spring is too low, or the holding time is not enough.
When in this status, the austenitic carbon and alloy element in the organization of spring is not enough, even the tissue of spring is still not turned in pearlite or dissolve ferrite ,lead to the hardness of spring can’t meet the requirement after hardening.
2, The heating temperature of spring is too high, or the holding time is too long, lead to the surface of spring decarburize, and become a low hardness.
The corresponding solution measures: reasonably control the heating temperature and holding time, and corresponding check after quenching to prevent tempering hardness.In addition, the box-type resistance furnace is the mesh belt furnace, can better solve the problem that the same batch of spring has uneven hardness.
The reason for reducing hardness of steel spring after tempering:
1, The hardness of spring is low after quenching, which leads to the low hardness.
2, The tempering temperature of the spring is too high, and the time of heating preservation is too long, which lead to the low hardness.
3, The hardness of steel spring is too high, the main cause of is the low tempering temperature and the short heating preservation time.
4, The same batch of spring with uneven hardness. The main reason is:
The same batch of spring has different hardness ,some are too low, and some are too high. Expect for the cause of the process, the influence of heat treatment equipment is also a key factor. Because the spring often uses box-type resistance to heart treatment, and tend to assemble the spring in the metal basket in bulk, which lead to multiple accumulation, and heating is very uneven. It is one of important reasons for the same batch of spring with uneven hardness. |
